I purchased this item not really knowing what to expect. I had previously had an american style fridge which was plumbed into the water system and gave both cold filtered water and ice. Sadly I had to get rid of that and really missed having the ice.I decided to opt for a cheaper version in the form of a portable ice maker.I could not believe how much ice it makes and how quickly. This will be amazing when you have guests. Now if you are having a lot of guests I would suggest you make quite a bit of ice first and freeze it but for 10 or less people popping this on a couple of hours before they get there should give you all you need. Leave it on and during the evening it should serve what you need all night.There is some noise but with guest's and a little music you will never know it's there. For a dinner party I would have it in another room, it's not a very loud noise but could be distracting if in a quietish area.Brilliant for the money, hope it lasts ages.
