Solid well made machine.

I spent quite some time researching which machine to buy.There were no reviews for this machine but it was on sale for £149 so I snapped it up. (Perhaps this was a mistake as the price went up to £199 the same day.)It arrived in 2 days.Have only used once but the machine is quiet and easily fits on the kitchen bench as it doesn't have a protruding arm like the Cusiniart. Construction is solid and seems well made. Although I can't compare it with the Gaggia I can't imagine that paying £300 would make better ice cream.Have made one batch of salty caramel ice cream that came out fine.The recipe is from a YouTube cooking show where they use the Baumatic.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXY9h67kahoHere is the recipe:Salty Caramel Ice Cream1½ cups milk6 egg yolks¾ cup sugar300mls cream1 tsp saltHeat milk till almost boilingBlend egg yolksStir sugar over a medium heat and add 2 tbsps of water. As it comes to boil brush extra off sides then turn heat up. No need to stir after this… just swirl it around as it browns.Add milk to eggsAdd cream to sugarTake off heat and add egg mixReturn to heat and stir until it comes to a custard like consistencyAdd saltPut in bowl in fridge until it coolsPut in machine for 50 minsEnjoy!

Pretty noisy

easy to use and doesn't take long to make great ice cream. It's quite noisy when it's running and the ice cream is difficult to scrape off the blades because of their shape. I managed to get liquid inside the middle when pouring the mixture in, so it froze the cylinder in to the main body. It came out after a couple of minutes and wasn't too difficult to clean up. All in all, I'm pretty pleased with the product.

Great value

Like the only other reviewer before my purchase, I was attracted by the price for what seemed to have everything I wanted. I am not disappointed as it is a well-made, well proportioned machine. I can't compare noise with others, being my first one but I have it on the utility room counter so can shut the door on it. Easy to use, easy to clean and it has been used dozens of times already with excellent results. I put the extra over what is eaten immediately in silicone cake pop moulds to get mini lollipops that can be eaten straight from the freezer - perfect for children and portion-conscious adults. In addition to the standard ice cream recipes try your favourite smoothie with perhaps some greek-style yoghurt, and ready-made custard makes perfectly good quick ice cream - I add cocoa for a rich chocolate one.
